The remarkable façade of the hotel is the first thing that is striking to visitors; this is a fabulous 3-story colonial mansion characterized by Spanish arches and a geometric construct typical of Moorish influence. On the interior no less effort is made to strive for grandiosity; sparkling crystal protrudes from the ceiling of the lobby which contains gorgeous period furnishings, and an adjoining airy and plant-filled courtyard is a peaceful place to kick back with a mojito or two. Hotel Saratoga / 5-Star
The beautiful neo-classical style architecture of the Hotel Saratoga isn’t the only reason it stands out from the crowd; the quality of service here is first class and the environment luxurious; all to be expected from one of the more recent luxury hotels that have opened in Old Havana. Saratoga is located on one of the busiest streets of the old town and is within easy reach of the main cultural activities in the capital – the Capitolio, the Gran Teatro , the Parque Central , and the Floridita Bar, in particular are very close by. It has always been at the heart of the action; in the 1930’s it was a top venue for music and shows and was frequented by celebrities and important socialites. The modern hotel holds on to this era with its opulent and vivid cosmopolitan decorations on the interior. The various suites are clean and fresh with modern amenities and natural color schemes of cool pastel green and brown that fit in nicely with the color schemes adorning the city itself. Guests can enjoy a delicious meal in either of the two restaurants – one of which is located on the rooftop and offers good views of Prado and places of interest such as the Partagas cigar factory across from the hotel- or chill out in one of the stylish bars, one of which has a large and evocative mural of a gorgeous Cuban landscape.
