This wide Caribbean beach, stretching for 20 kilometres, is filled with golden sands that sparkle in the sunlight. Beneath the translucent turquoise waters there is a wealth of sights that can be explored by scuba divers. An extensive coral reef – the second largest in the world – lies just off the coast of Playa Santa Lucia and brims with colorful tropical fish. To add to the excitement of exploring the sea bed, there are 33 mysterious shipwrecks known to be sunken off the coast, and perhaps even more that have yet to be discovered. Onshore, visitors can further enjoy the natural beauty of the area at the El Real Lake, which sports flocks of Pink flamingos.
